Viewers strongly criticize the episode for unfunny and offensive humor, particularly the cockfighting plot, with concerns that season 8 quality is declining.
Alot of the shows from this season have been uneven, ranging from near classic (the Kenny Roger's chicken) to weak and uninspired (the seanson premiere) but the 1/9 episode was the most abysmal so far. I found nothing in it funny, I thought the cock fighting was nearly offensive and the humor seemed forced, as it has too often this season. Maybe their shouldn't be a season nine if this is what the show is going to degenerate to.

I found this episode to be the most offensive one yet! Two years ago my neighborI owned a pit bull terrier. Kept him in the back yard and never bothered anyone. It was stolen, and I later learned that he was trained to fight other dogs TO THE DEATH. That is what became of him, and I find it repulsive that anyone could laugh at such a notion as a cockfight. Sick humor at the expense of innocent creatures. What a sad way to get a yuk!

I posted the original message and I was watching the tape of that episode again today and this time I found that some of the lines in the first half of the episode were actually funny. So therefore this may not be the absolute worst one ever as I originally thought but I was still offended by the cockfighting subplot so this ones still a loser.

The whole episode (the rooster, the fights, the name 'Little Jerry') was written as a set-up with one solitary joke in mind. It was all engineered so that Kramer could utter the risque double entendre: "Little Jerry won his cockfight!" (And so that the writers could hear the word 'cock' on primetime).
This is what happens when arrested adolescents are hired to write for a show that is sadly a mere shadow of its former self.

I have to disagree....The episode was hilarious, everything about it. I mean, the cock fighting was on of the weaker parts of the episode but, it was not meant to degrade roosters, it just helped to show Kramer's stupididity.

When Kramer showed up with the rooster, I thought that this could be an entertaining premise because somehow a chicken seems to be an appropriate choice of pet for Kramer. After cockfight was confirmed, I commented to my S.O. that the writer that dreamed up this tasteless and offensive bit ought to be writing stories in Denmark for pedophiles. You would think that the cast would have some right of refusal when presented with this crap..
I enjoyed the cockfight episode. Little Jerry!!!! Seinfield is meant to offend some. Look at the gugg they took over Susan's death! And George dating a woamn prisoner was excellent too!!!
I agree the show was pretty funny. You guys get offended real easily.
