Disappointed with premiere?

Some people have expressed their disappointment with the premeire episode. I would ask these people to consider some things.

First, all summer long you have been building up your expectations. "Oh boy! I can't wait for the new season! Etc." This puts undue pressure on the first episode to satisfy these overly high expectations. Unless the premeire is super phenominal it will disappoint no matter if it as good as any other episode.

Second, you compare this episode to your favorite and/or similar episodes. So, now you won't appreciate the episode on it's own merits.

Third, and last, this might have been an NBC programming move.

Actually, I was really disappointed with the bed scenes. Both Jerry and George seamed to be claiming throughout the show the importance of giving their partners pleasure, but both end up frustrated because of their inability to get either 'get it up' or to last (I don't think it's ever indicated which of these is the case). It seems to me that if they really want to cause their partners to orgasm it wouldn't matter whether or not their own body parts worked or not. As long as their hands and mouths still work, there's still hope.

Maybe their hands and mouths don't work too well! ;) Remember, George received "the tap" And, of course, Lainey "fake, fake, fake and fake"-d it with our hero!

I don't think my expectations were all that high for this season. Frankly, I was somewhat disappointed with last season, and hoped they would return to the style of the second and third seasons. While I found the "fruit" story of this episode very funny (and very much like something they would have done in an earlier season), I found the "faking it" story forced and not very funny.

I tried to judge this episode on its own merits, but it seemed to me that the writers were trying very hard to reproduce "The Contest". Since I felt that Jerry & Co. wanted me to make this comparison, I did, and found "The Mango" lacking.
