It was originally done by a band called Wall of Voodoo, featuring lead singer Stan Ridgeway....circa 81-83 I think they were on Warner Brothers..
I've seen the song turn up an a couple of 80's hits collections, not sure if the whole WOV album is in print on CD anymore

The song "Mexican Radio" was originally on the 1982 Wall of Voodoo album called "Call of the West," which was released on I.R.S. Records. It's a great record by an underrated and innovative band...instead of buying it on an 80's compilation, why not seek out the original album? It may not be the easiest to find, but it IS still in print. Also hope you caught the clip of the real song at the very end of the end credits.
