Jason came to work every day and was paid very well for his services. He did not invest his own money in the show, nor take a risk in losing it all; he did not create the show, write it, or market it, What is he a "big big Communist"? He is just a worker on the show. Do the electricians get royalties? The cameramen? The editors? Are we going to name their names? Did he control the means of production? I think he should be paid if he is going to add anything to the DVD but he made a deal when he accepted his part on the show. And I am sure all three actors were very happy to get the work! All three of them would have been nowhere without Jerry or Larry David. Like, what have they done since? No, Jason is a Communista simpatico and perhaps in Cuba he should be paid for doing nothing but not where capitalism is king.

When Seinfeld was sold into syndication, and it was obvious that it was going to make a LOT of money, the supporting cast should have banded together (a la "Friends") and demanded a share of the back-end. They waited until the last season to do this, and even then, they backed down. I think Jerry should have taken care of his friends/colleagues. But they were absolutely foolish not to demand it.

Perhaps "trying" is, but "doing" is also. Those who create a product that others want to buy are successful. Those who create products others don't want aren't successful. It's quite a fair system. The products can be hard good, ideas, or labor.
Jason, Michael, and Julia have been type-cast by their 9 seasons on the show. The money they're demanding is to compensate them for not being able to do any really meaningful projects (Alexander seems to be the exception with his run in "The Producers")

The only reason Michael, Julia and Jason were considered for sit-coms after their Seinfeld run was because they were IN Seinfeld! It gave them the opportunity and it was THEY who blew it! They made millions being in that show; they were damn lucky and they know it!

Alexander: Israel a second home By VIVA SARAH PRESS ======================================================== Actor Jason Alexander told local actors, playwrights and directors last week that Jerusalem holds a special place in his heart. ======================================================== For those following reports on Jason Alexander's visit here last week, it might seem that the comic actor had lost his sense of humor.
After all, the performer best known for his role as the neurotic George Costanza in the Seinfeld television series took on an uncharacteristic serious tone as he endorsed the new peace initiative, One Voice.
But on Thursday afternoon, Alexander let down his guard for an hour and entertained local theater actors, playwrights, and directors (and a handful of media) by giving a glimpse into his life as a Hollywood star and as a Jew.
Alexander was a Broadway song-and-dance actor before appearing in films and television.
"My dreams were all about being a theater actor, hopefully on Broadway. But I thought even that was a lofty goal," said Alexander, who looked much better rested than at his previous meetings with the press. "I've had incredible luck."
At 14 Alexander participated in a children's theater production. It got a one-time airing on a local television station in New York "on a Sunday morning at eight o'clock. So no one had any fantasies of this becoming something big."
A talent agent saw the show, however, and signed Alexander up.
"I thought if I was very lucky and if I worked very hard and worked at all the reasonable theaters, maybe - God willing - in my 40s or 50s I might get to perform on Broadway. When I was 19, I got cast in a Steven Sondheim musical called Merrily We Roll Along. This was very exciting. I thought my career was set," said the actor who was born, Jay Scott Greenspan.
"This was the biggest bomb in the history of Broadway. Sondheim's biggest personal flop. But it launched my theater career."
Alexander's next big production was Jerome Robbins' Broadway for which, in 1989, he won a Tony award.
In 1990, he jumped to the silver-screen with a small role in the hit Pretty Woman, as a sleazy businessman who makes a pass at Julia Roberts. ("I turned out to be a good schmuck," says the Boston University theater major.)
The same year he was cast in "this thing called the Seinfeld Chronicles." Alexander didn't know at the time that Seinfeld would go on to become the top show of the decade in the US.
"The No.1 show in America when we started was Alf, an alien puppet. I said: 'If this is the taste of America, what are we doing?' I just didn't see this catching on."
The last episode ran in 1998.
Is there life after Seinfeld?
"Life after Seinfeld is just fine. Here's my predicament: The thing I wanted to do most when Seinfeld ended was go back to where I started in the first place. My first and greatest love is the theater. My problem is that the theater is not the best 'daddy schedule' in the world," said Alexander, who recently finished a nine-month run of The Producers in Los Angeles.
"I just did an extended theater run and my children were ready to kill me. It was really really hard on my family."
"You've just destroyed the Cameri Theater and the Habima Theater and all the theaters in Israel," joked Noam Semel, general manager of the Cameri, who was moderating Alexander's talk.
Despite his successes so far, Alexander says he still has dreams as a stage artist.
"Most of my dreams as an actor will probably never be realized, because as a professor of mine once said, 'You're always going to be a little dissatisfied as an actor because your heart and soul is Hamlet, but your body is Falstaff.' I do wish I could do roles that had more substance," said Alexander.
Talking about his visit, Alexander told the packed crowd how happy he was to be back.
"I fell in love with the country 14 years ago. And I don't say that lightly. I really fell in love with it. I went back to America and talked about it. This is an amazing place."
So, why if Alexander loves Israel so much doesn't he move here with his actress wife, Daena Enid Title, and their two sons Gabriel, 12, and Noah, eight?
"Unless you're born here, I don't think it's a casual decision to move to Israel. It's not like Florida.
"My home is back in America. I like to believe this is my second home," he said sincerely before turning yet another answer into a punch line.
"Here's the second reason: What does the top TV actor in Israel make?"
But Alexander does note that Jerusalem will always hold a special place in his heart. He and his wife tried unsuccessfully for five years to have children. Immediately following their 1990 visit to the capital, his wife got pregnant.
"Turns out Jerusalem was the magic bullet. We visited and now we have two healthy boys. Thank you Jerusalem and Israel."
