Heard this snippet on the news this morning. Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer will be returning to our screens in 1999. Before we all get too excited, they have been signed by American Express to make a series of 30 second commercials based on their characters in "Seinfeld". However, once they start working together again, who knows what might develop? We can only hope.

Why can't they just let it go. Are they going to belabor us about Seinfeld for the next zillion years through commercials, bad made-for-television movies (I just pray that they don't go do that: it will be just like those bad Brady Bunch reunion movies), merchandising, and other commercial ilk.
Hey, just think "A Seinfeld Christmas" would be the only Christmas special on tv that is full of cynical, pessimistic people who care nothing about spreading good will!!! YAY!
Jeez, professor positive. Here I am tickled pink because I will get to see more of my favorite TV personalities and you go and sour the mood.
There will be no "made for TV" movies. There will be no holiday specials. There will only be a series of AmEx ads (written by Jerry) that will bring back some of my most beloved TV friends from the past.
I just don't get your attitude. If you're sick of being "belabored
about Seinfeld", why do you continue to post here? You don't seem
annoyed at the thought of this newsgroup existing for "the next zillion
years" but somehow this ad campaign has riled you up.

If he DOES return to a regular TV gig it'll certainly NOT be a sitcom,
he's made that clear. You COULD see him do a talk/variety show, or inherit an
established one if/when its current host retires, he has said he might be
interested in that if the circumstances and format are right. (A lot of people
think Dave Letterman wants badly to move on when his contract with CBS ends at
the end of next year.) But Jerry hasn't let us in on any details of plans he
might have beyond his return to standup and occasional guest shots. There will
be no films other than a possible "Seinfeld" reunion movie of the series cast,
and that's some time away IF it happens at all. Kenny Kramer, who keeps in
touch with Jerry and with Larry David, says there are NO plans for such a film
in 1999 and no firm plans for such a film further down the road either. They
kept control and ownership of the characters and format, and left the door open
for something in the more distant future, but haven't even come close to
walking through that door as of now.So to summarize, will Jerry be back? Sure, next year, probably in a comedy club or auditorium near you. Will he be back on TV? Eventually, in some format although not likely in another sitcom. Will "Seinfeld" be back? Maybe as a one-shot theatrical film or TV miniseries several years down the road, but NOT as a resumed weekly sitcom series. If $125 million up front and a seat on the GE corporate board wouldn't persuade Jerry to do another year (and it didn't when they offered it to him), I can't imagine anything else would...and apparently neither can he.
