The thought of elaine and jerry as a couple (again) is a repelling thought i would have never considered even just a year ago. but maybe this extreme response to a dire situation for season 9 is the only way to go. team Seinfeld has already considered doing this and now is the time to go with it. the change in elaine (completed fully in season 7) has rendered the character julia recently claimed to be playing as being "totally insane," unfunny and no fun to watch, except in rare instances like "english patient." jerry's character also has developed a sort of super mean-spiritedness that when put together with his unwillingness to put any real effort into his acting puts the whole weight of carrying the show on george and kramer. If elaine and jerry became a couple again (perhaps picking up where "the deal" left off), maybe that would serve as a source for a whole final season's worth of material that would serve to douse the the fires of both characters' antagonisms and provide for a return to the sharp humor of old.

jerry used to get recognized by people on the show all the time but now even as he has supposedly gotten more successful, he does not get recognized nearly as often as the writers are at loss as to what to do with his status as a comedian and how to fit that in the show. It's almost ironic that it would have seemed natural right about now for jerry to get his own sitcom, but, oop, they've already played that card in the peak season, 4.
