Bubble Boy's Dad

Who is Brian Doyle-Murray, who plays the Bubble Boy's father? We noticed the similarity to Bill Murray and then caught the credits.

BTW, I love the scenes where two (or more) characters are on the same wavelenth and it's like they share the same mind. Example from the Bubble Boy episode -- Jerry is complaining to Elaine that George drives fast just to make good time and cites case when he made it to the (airport?) in 25 minutes. Then it cuts to George -- who stops Susan from "necking" because he wants to make good time and cites case when he made it to the airport in 15 minutes. They say nearly the same thing -- except Jerry is whining and George is lying (about the 15 minutes). Very spooky mind link.

Other examples of this mind synchronicity? It much be all over the place.

Bubble boy's dad is Bill Murray's father. He's also appeared in other shows like Wings and X-Files.

Brian is the oldest of (at last count) 4 Murray brothers who dabble in the movies from time to time...Bill being the second oldest, and the two youngest appearing so rarely (and in such *bad* movies) as to cause their names to escape my memory. Brian was also a regular on Saturday Night Live during the drought years after Bill and the original cast had been long gone. You might have noticed him doing the Weekend Update from time to time, when he could steal camera time from Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo.

Brian Doyle Murray is in fact Bill Murray's older borther and has appeared in every movie starring Bill I've seen. Everything from Caddy Shack to Ground Hog Day. He also was a regular on some short lived comedy show back in the late eighties.

Was he in STRIPES? I don't remember him in that one.

Hi, I think Brian Doyle-Murray is one of Bill's older brothers.
I think there are five Murray brothers and Brian is one of them.
He was on the old Saturday Night Lives after Bill left.
Another one of the brothers, James I think used to be on the CBS
show Love and Wars with Jay Thomas and Annie Potts.

Anyone remember "Get a Life" with Chris Elliott? He played the guy Chris rented a room from. He also starred with brother Bill in "Groundhog Day."

I'm not sure if this counts, but there's the sequence in "The Watch" where we see Jerry and Naomi (the waitress) exchanging phone numbers, and then it cuts to Elaine and Crazy Joe Davola doing the same thing. In both scenes, Jerry and Elaine both say something like, "I never do anything like this. I must be crazy" or words to that effect.

Brian Doyle-Murray (Bill's older bro and a 2nd City alum) is hilarious in the short-lived but still loved "Get a Life".

I still consider some of his scenes when Chris Elliott lived in with him to be among the funiest I've ever seen.

He was in the Chris Elliot movie "Cabin Boy" which was so completely idiotic I can't believe I'm admitting I watched it.

I did love the show "Get a Life". It was hilarious.

He was also a writer for the original SNL. He is Bill Murray's older brother. He's in Caddyshack, Groundhog Day and other films as well. His humor really cracks me up. He is one reason that the Bubble Boy is my favorite episode.

He appeared on SNL (after Bill left, I believe). Probably at the same time as Julia Louis-Dreyfus.(??)

He was in Chris Elliott's TV series "Get a Life," but did not play Chris' father. Chris' real father (Bob Elliott) played his father. Doyle-Murray played Gus Borden.

Brian was also one of the 3 writers of Caddyshack, and appeared as Lou Loomis, the "manager" of the actual caddyshack - assigning the caddies to the golfers.

Brian also appeared with Bill (and Chris Elliott) in Ground Hog Day, with Chris (again) in Cabin Boy, and as Jack Ruby in Oliver Stone's JFK.

He was also in George Wendt's short-lived series this season based on NPR's "Click and Clack" --- I can't remember the series name right now. He played a mechanic in the shop.

And, I think he played the role of the campground owner/operator/whatever in "Vacation."

Like Bill, he was once in the Chicago cast of Second City.
