Fans discuss whether the 'Mackinaw peaches' eaten by Kramer and Newman in 'The Doodle' are real or fictional, with consensus that they were invented by the episode's writers.
Does anyone know what peaches Kramer and Neuman were eating in the "Doodle" episode? The episode synopses on the web just say "tasty peaches" and I am beginning to wonder if the things were made up. I thought that Kramer said that they came from Washington State and were only available for 2 weeks out of the year.

They were Mackinaw (sp?) peaches. I don't know if they were made up or not though.

Actually, film and television is generally based on fictions plots, characters and, in this case, food items. It's also interesting to note (as it appears that you don't know this) that many of the films that are mentioned in the television series are fake except for Schindler's List (the episode in which Jerry makes out with his girlfriend). If I remember correctly they mentioned a film called Firestorm which was actually later made into a film starring Howie Long.
Of course there's always those "based on a true series" shows but they are usually very sub par. By the way, I agree that Seinfeld is one of the greatest shows ever made.

Mackinaw peaches. There's a Mackinaw Island in Michigan, but they don't
grow peaches. After extensive net searching, I've come to the
conclusion that the "Mackinaw peach" grows only in the imagination of
Alec Berg and Jeff Schaeffer (the two who co-wrote the episode).

I asked the produce guy at Food Lion if there was such a thing as Mackinaw peaches. He told me that yes there was a Mackinaw peach and he thought maybe it grew in South Carolina or Georgia. He didn't really seem like he knew what he was talking about, though.
