Michael Richards has agreed to settle his dispute with the men he offended during his racist rant last month at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood. Richards and the Gloria Allred, the lawyer for the two patrons, issued the following joint statement:

"Michael Richards would like to apologize in person to the gentleman with whom he had the exchange in the club. After discussions with Gloria Allred, an attorney who represents the man and three others who were with him that night, Michael has agreed that they will all meet in the presence of a retired judge who will facilitate the meeting and help the parties resolve this matter. All concerned are hopeful that a face-to-face meeting will be constructive and begin the necessary process of healing and closure."

He better not give them any money for it. Its not illegal what he did. and even though it was horrible, giving up money isn't going to help in any way and the victims are just looking for an easy payday.

Agreed. in fact I think it would make him look a million times worse, like he was trying to buy them off. If they really push for financial compensation (which they certainly don't require) then it will reflect badly on them and diminish their position.

I heard a clip of these guy's lawyer, and she said something like "when your kid throws a baseball through the neighbors window, you have the kid apoloigize and pay for the damage" which I think is a completely irrelevent statement. She knows that Richards isn't required to pay them but is saying that its the right thing to do.

Richards career is over, and he'll probably have to move to some rural area out in the middle of bumphuck just to live a pieceful life. Kramer was my hero, and I forgive him for what he said even though I think he was a fucking idiot for saying something like that. What amazes me is that those guys didn't jump up on stage and beat his ass. Everytime I've heard the n-word used by a white person within an ear-shot of a black person, instantaneous violance ensued. And there wasn't enough of the white dude left to scrape onto a potato chip.

for example this story is so full of double standards..... Richard Pryor said the n word all the time before his trip to Africa he insulted white people all the time. what mr did was wrong but how is it different? how is the use of cracker by an over the top comedian such as Chappell or Pryor different ?
