Picking up on just about everyone's letters about the final Seinfeld, I think the reason why some people didn't like it was because of all the hype. But how can you expect good from something that is talked about that much? When I was watching it late at night in the A/V room at my school library (a somewhat short story picked up on later in this post), I was very excited. I had no expectations. I was expecting a bad one, and I got, what I believe, is the best episode of Seinfeld. Now, some of you will tell me that I jerk off, suck, etc., mocking my opinion and my right to express that opinion, as well as others. I heard that the tenative title for the finale was "A Hard Nut to Crack." Is that the only episode without "The" in the title? Or did they change the name of the last one. Also, is the clip show considered an episode? I thought that was very funny, too, with some sweet moments at the end. (Why do all comedians turn out to be sentimental bores? is not the correct question, rather: Why do all modern comedians, excluding Seinfeld and Woody Allen, turn out to be cynical bores.) I had many theories on what the plot of the final show would be (one being that, upon packing to California, Kramer or another one of the NY4 realize they've been living in California all along.) But only one was right: that the final show would have stand up comedy at the beginning. Also: the Jay Leno show. Everyone screaming Jerry Seinfeld's name in admiration pretty much says: You've come a long way from a bombed first night at stand-up comedy, baby.
