Tonights re-run episode (The virgin one) was really funny, but I just noticed something. When Jerry is pitching the idea for a pilot, he suggests an entire episode about waiting in a Chinese restaurant, which was of course an actual Seinfeld episode. Did the Seinfeld episode about the Chinese restaurant occur before Jerry pitched the idea for the pilot, or after?

"The Chinese Restaurant" - the 16th "Seinfeld" episode aired in May, 1991 "The Virgin" in which Jerry unsuccessfully pitches this concept was two seasons later in Nov, 1992

That Chinese restaurant episode happened long before Jerry pitched the idea, which is why it was so funny.
Yes, and though many in this group pan that episode, it is regarded as a quintessential Seinfeld episode, truly being a show about nothing. The fact that NBC scorned the main premise of the Seinfeld show in the Virgin episode is very humorous.
I think it occured before The Pilot. In fact, I'm pretty sure.
Excuse me for being picky, but did anyone else think it was weird that Elaine had to "apologize" for talking about a diaphragm to someone? Jane Leeves' character gets upset and slinks out, Jerry gets upset, and Elaine goes to apologize. For what? Are we to believe that an adult woman can't handle hearing people talk about birth control, or sex, just because they're a virgin?
I was a virgin when this show aired, which is probably why I thought it was so strange. I can't imagine getting upset because a woman was talking about keeping diaphragms in a purse.
