car park

What does everyone else think about this.....

George should have got the car park in "The Parking Space", because he was backing in. Also he should have got it because it was Jerrys car and outside Jerrys apartment. Mike should have known that, and if not, it should have been pointed out by Jerry at least.

And, not being American I'll ask, is there really Kenny Rogers chicken, and if so, whats it like???

When Rogers went into the chicken business, those stores popped up all over South Florida. There were three within two miles of my house, and my younger brother actually worked at one of them. (Since he's not a Sein-nut, he never understood why I'd call him 'Seth'.) Anyway, it was a cut above KFC, but not nearly as good as Boston Market. But all three made (sold) decent chicken. (By way of comparison, Burger King and McDonalds should not even be allowed to call the pressed garbage they sell 'chicken'.)

Yeah, that was Mike's spot.

Another interesting note about that episode. While Mike and George are arguing over who gets the spot, a big truck comes down the street and the driver yells at both of them to move the cars. The part of the truck driver was played by none other than Mike Costanza, Jerry's childhood friend who was in no small part the inspiration (as well as the namesake) for George Costanza.

Not only was he not signalling, he was not backing up. He sat there for about a minute bragging to Elaine about what a great parker he was. If he had begun backing up immediately, then I would say he had rights to that spot, but since he was just sitting there, Mike didn't know if he was trying to park, or maybe just dropping off or picking up.

Of course you can go in frontwards. I always go in frontwards. Again, if George wasn't so busy regaling Elaine with inflated boasting of his parking prowess, he would have had the spot long before Mike drove up.

Regardless of the relative appropriateness of going in frontwards vs. backing in, I believe George lost rights to that spot for karmic reasons alone.

(And wasn't it great how the two street cops disagreed as well? Before they made their appearance, my prevailing thought was "Just call a cop and let him decide.")

Anyway, on to the *real* parking mistake, and that's Mr. Peterman bumping into another car with his classic Jaguar at Suze's funeral. You remember, the bump that opened the trunk and allowed Mike, with the broken thumbs, to escape? Well, I don't know about you, but if *I* had bumped that expensive roadster into *anything*, regardless of how light the tap was, I'd be all over that bumper looking for scratches or dings. Peterman didn't even give it a 2nd thought.

And what is it about Mike and poorly parked cars anyway?
