Fans debate whether an episode's subplot about George's father's emotional distress was a genuine "very special episode" or a parody mocking sitcoms that use such emotional storylines.
After watching the 10/31 episode, I was dissapointed that the show finally entered an area I never wanted it to go. The subplot about George's dad and his emotional distress entered into the "very special episode" wasteland that every other comedy show has.
I say no more of these heart wrenching episodes.

That wasn't meant to be heart wrenching, but rather to mock other sitcoms which go in for the maudlin stuff. If those war scenes really got to you, you're a pretty sensitive guy.
