Amazing that this is a TV show that has NEVER been off the air. I heard on a talk show that it has been broadcast in uninterrupted syndication for the past 42 years.

I wouldn't be surprised in Seinfeld has the same streak going in 2031 or so.

Yeah, I suppose the Jerry-less episode would have been possible, but Jerry was really the glue that brought the show together. It's unlikely George, Elaine, or Kramer would have ever hung out together in the absence of Jerry. Remember, Elaine and George had problems talking, and Kramer would just assume hang out with Newman as anybody.

The only "glue" to Three's Company was irony. Just have one of the characters overhear a conversation that makes them assume two of the other characters are having sex and Bam! There's an episode, right there.

Yes, but George knew Jerry in high school. If you'll remember, it was partly George's fault that Jerry never returned the library book, The Tropic of Cancer. It's not as clear to me when Elaine came into Jerry's life. I suppose she could have been around 20 years earlier to see him throw up, but she wasn't even in the pilot episode, so not likely.

When Jerry and Larry David began writing the series they first wrote a pilot episode, "Good News, Bad News". There was no Elaine character in it. They both admitted they did not know how to write for a female character. So, IIRC, when the series was picked up they got Jerry's old girl friend, Carol Leifer, to be part of the production and writing team.

Please don't send binaries (embedded images) in this newsgroup. Many ISP's will cancel a newsgroup if the bandwidth due to images, etc. gets two large. They have "binaries" newsgroups to handle them.

Elaine came into Jerry's life sometime after he moved into his apartment. The episode, I think it's called "The Truth," is where we find out that Kramer once asked Jerry to contribute to what turned out to be a bogus charity - in front of Elaine during their first date together.

In one episode, Jerry wore a Queens College t-shirt. That is the school he really attended and so did I. He graduated 2 years after me.

You're right! Jerry must have moved into his apartment in 1984. So it makes sense. In the episode The Dog, Elaine tells George that she moved to New York (from Baltimore where she has a sister that she visits in another episode) in 1985. George even counts out the six years on his fingers which takes him to the year of the episode-1991. Therefore, Jerry moves in across from Kramer, and within a year starts dating Elaine. The fact that he tries to impress her with his donating to Kramer's charity clinches the fact that they proably didn't know each other before hand, or else she would have seen through that - as two magicians trying to impress each other with tricks that they each know how to do. 8>/
