Okay, I know that the episodes that she shows up in are pretty bad (The Reality Tour and the stupid bookstore episode). But does anybody know why the writers chose Rebecca DeMornay, once popular lead actress who now (along with KElly McGillis) is mainly known as "the girl that Tom cruise got with when he was young? You think this is just random? Or did someone on the Seinfeld crew have some kind of relationship with Rebecca DeMornay (again, of all people!) that led to this embodiment?
What you meant was you *think* they're pretty bad.

Obviously it wasn't a coincidence, but I have no clue why they chose that name for that character.

Since Rebecca the actress had her big break in "Risky Business" without having anything since equal it, her image is fixed in the public mind as the teenager she was in the movie. She's famous, but not too famous. (After seeing her on ER, she still looks pretty much the same, actually.)
The fact of the matter is, the name given ( Rebecca DeMornay ) to that character ..is what makes it FUNNY! The funnyness hits when your brain compares the character and the actual Rebecca DeMornay! The significance need not be more!! BRAVO

Hey sarcasm king, I think I get the idea of comedy. I asked a simple question about relationships with the central characters and writers. Why Rebecca DeMornay of ALL the actresses in hollywood? Huh? Why not Kelly McGillis? Why not Kim Basinger? Why not Suzanne Sommers? See, if you read my original post, I was not asking about the COMEDY of the situation. I know it is funny. But there might be more to it. Congratulations though, genius. Obviously you understand comedy better than dopes like me because, ah, what is it that you do?
Oh yeah, write lame sarcastic comebacks in fan groups for questions that weren't even intended as such. Oh I'm sure you host an open mike at The Laugh Shack in Hoboken, New Jersey (Hoboken! That's a funny name! You can steal that!) and then point your expertise from years of sitting in front of the television and "understanding comedy" at questions where no comedy is intended. Because, hey, isn't that true comedy? Colorful, sarcastic responses to simple questions? Slam Comedy, man! If it worked for Andrew (formerly Dice) Clay, go for it! I'm sure we'll all get the FUNNYNESS of that! BRAVO! And maybe one day Byron Allen will come by and catch your witty comebacks and give you your big break.
Or if you aren't a stand up comedian on the rise (which I doubt, because of the high level of your retort), then I ask: WHATS THE POINT? Is it just a "snappy answer to a stupid question!" Oh, I bet you had everybody on their knees with that one! You really used your expertise of comedy to lay a blow on me (and take the world by storm with your FUNNYNESS which I'll get when it HITS MY BRAIN)
