Thank God..Intelligent Life

I just found this group, and, well, I couldn't be happier. As I sit here reading all these posts about my favorit T.V. show, I can't help but smile. I recently moved from a large city on the east coast, to a small city (If you can call it a city), and nobody here seems to watch Seinfeld. I was used to going to work on Friday morning and talking about the previous nights episode with everybody. Here I have to tell people to watch it, seems every- one goes to bed at sundown. I like my job and town, but life without Seinfeld?!? How did they manage. Thank God I came here to enlighten them. Right over my terminal, I have my very own copy of "The KRAMER" (a great episode(and Christmas gift)). Anyway, to my reason for posting. I heard this weeks (1-20-94)episode will be "the chinese resturant". FINALLY, I have never seen this one and all my old friend say it is the BEST. Anyone know if it is (coming on that is)? I guess I'll find out tomorrow. VCR be ready.

If I remember correctly, Kramer wasn't in this episode at all(Chinese Rest.)-- but it is still my favorite. It really is one of their best. I know what you're going through at work-- when I started watching Seinfeld (I just happened to leave the tv on after Cheers and saw the episode where Jerry and Kramer pour cement in a laundromat machine) nobody in school was watching it and I had to urge them all to do so. Soon we couldn't stop talking about it. _____________________________________________________

I agree that it wasn't one of my all-time favorites. When it originally aired I think it got so much attention because of the premise. People could relate to waiting so long for a table that they could have watched an entire T.V. show. Later when I saw a similar stunt on Mad About You (shopping for the couch) I decided it seemed pretty lame.

I think that George was still in his "I can't decide if I'm Woody Allen or not" mode. My favorite line of his from this episode is,

"We live in a society here!"

I am beginning to doubt the intelligence of this group. My SO and I agreed hands down that the Chinese Restaurant episode was by far the worst one we've seen (keep in mind we haven't seen all of them). The only good line was by George: (*NOT VERBATIM*) The only excuse she might have accepted would have been in I had told her I was Batman and had just seen the bat signal.

George was at an all-time whinniest. Seinfeld had just gotten his haircut, which never makes him look good...and Elaine wimped out on the eggroll incident.

Sorry - I love the show (and MAY by the way) but this episode will not make it to my archives.

I myself cannot stand George. However, I think that this is very much the point of the character! George at his whiniest is George at his Georgiest; which is wonderful.

I thought the episode was great -- especially because, as it was one of the really early ones, we got to see a lot of where the characters came from! (And I really hate when they show reruns which are only from a few weeks ago....so this was good.)
