Sandy Baron, the actor who plays Jack, is he an old time stand up or in anything else?

He was a frequent guest on The Mike Douglas Show. I remember when they'd have extra time at the end of the show, Sandy and whatever other guests were still around would do improv...often painfully bad improv.
