Kramer--SCTV--Fridays (Army Man) Question

Hello,

I posted here last week about the guy (forgot his name again) who played Kramer and whether he appeared on SCTV as this guy who use to play with army men. It was hilarious! Anyway, several of you informed me that it wasn't SCTV, it was a short- lived series called 'Fridays'. I now remember that show! I had totally forgotten about it. I was rather young at the time. Can anyone offer any additional insight about this show? What years was it on? Did any other 'future' stars appear in it? and most importantly, Where can I view old videos of it? I would love to watch some of those old *Kramer Guy* episodes again! I can barely remember it, but I do remember laughing my A## off! Does anyone know if it is out on video? Probably not, huh?

I had to dig out my copy of "The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows 1946-Present" and here's what it says about Fridays....

FRIDAYS First Telecast: April 11, 1980 Last Telecast: October 22, 1982

Aired on ABC from 11:30-12:40 am (Apr. 1980-Mar. 1981), at 12:00-1:10 am (Apr 1981-Sept1981), and 12:00-1:40 am (Sept. 1981-October 1982)

Regulars on the show included: Mark Blankfield, Maryedith Burrell, Melanie Chartoff, LARRY DAVID, Darrow Igus, Brandis Kemp, Bruce Mahler, MICHAEL RICHARDS, and John Roarke.

By the way, it lists that Michael Richards was also on "Marblehead Manor" (which lasted 24 episodes in 1987-88).

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was on "Day By Day (which lasted for a year and a half in 1988-89).

Jerry Seinfeld played Frankie on Benson from 1980-81.

Jason Alexander was the voice of Duckman beginning in 1993; was Harold Stickley on "E/R" (the Elliott Gould sitcom, not the current drama) which ran from 1984 to 1985, and was the lead character Julian Beeby on "Everything's Relative" which lasted 1 month.

Wayne Knight was a regular on "The Edge" in 1992 & 1993 and played Robert Piccolo on "Second Half" which ran in 1993 and 1994.

Liz Sheridan played Raquel Ochmonek on "ALF" which ran from 1986 to 1990.

Barney Martin played Pete Peters on "Daddy Dearest" which ran for two months in the fall of 1993; was a regular on the "Kraft Music Hall Presents: The Dave King Show" which lasted half of a year in 1959; was the lead character Horace Batterson on "Number 96" which lasted a month in December of 1980; was Ray on "Sydney" which lasted 5 months in 1990, was Jack Terwilliger on "The Tony Randall Show" which ran for 2 years from 1976-1978, and played Brothers Napa and Sonoma on "Zorro and Son" which ran from April to June 1983.

Estelle Harris played Ronnie Cohen for one season of "Good Advice" in 1993.

Jerry Stiller played Gus Duzik on "Joe and Sons" which ran for four months in 1975-76, was Barney Dickerson on "The Paul Lynde Show" which lasted a year from 1972 to 1973, and was Sid Wilbur on "Tattingers" which ran from Oct. 1988 to Apr. 1989.

Was JLD ever a member of Fridays? I seem to remember a parody of Star Wars with Julia playing Leia, (I think), wagging her finger at Darth Vader

Jason also played in a movie called "I Don't Buy Kisses Anymore" with Nia Peeples. It was okay. He played an overweight guy who had a big crush on Nia's character. She kind of used him for "research", I think, for a paper she was writing. Of course, she fell in love with him.

I remember enjoying many of the "Fridays" skits. Michael Richards also played Ronald Reagan. They had some great music - the Clash and Boomtown Rats come to mind. I do remember thinking while watching much of the show that "These people are using drugs, I'm not, and therefore I'm not fully in tune with this." Fridays started when Saturday Night Live was getting terrible, so I thought it would last longer. As competition to SNL, Fridays put Mad TV to shame.
