The new season

I love Seinfeld. But has anyone else noticed that the comedy in the new season is a little forced and not as funny? Most likely due to the absence of Larry Charles. It still funny, but not the out-right bust a gut kind of comedy that we have been priveliged enough to have witnessed for as long as we have. I definitely hope things get better (or those rumours may just come back at the end of this season).

I felt that only the season's first episode was lacking. I was really disappointed in that one... it was forced, contrived, and just wasn't funny.

But all the rest this season have been laugh-out-loud funny. As far as I'm concerned, it's the only "must-see" show on the air.

"Seinfeld" has always been kinda "forced" but generally pretty funny. Take, for example, in "The Puffy Shirt", where George finds a way to make an incredible living as a hand model, only to have his hands damaged by the "low talker". Very contrived, very funny.

An example of a contrived episode that doesn't work, IMO, is "The Bottle Deposit", which, like David Putty's new move, goes NOWHERE.

I feel that this season has been excellent so far. Even episodes that weren't the strongest, such as the Little Steps (kicks?), had some memorable and funny moments. The show seems to have taken on a more polished, more commercial quality since LD left, but is still very worthwhile, very funny, and IMO, still the best thing on TV.

I hoped they'd pull a Dallas this season and realize the mistake by saying George dreamed the whole episode. That would have been great. George could have gone to make arrangements and come home to find Susan there, etc.

This whole season, with the exception of glimpses, is filled with the characters in totally out-of-character territory. We've been VERY let down to the point of now taping it for later viewing, and lately even considering other options for that night.

If this is due to Larry David leaving then it's likely to not get much better. And I suspect if this keeps up there certainly will be no next season.
