Can someone tell me what Brad Garrett, the actor who played the mechanic who absconded with Jerry's car, has done before? He looks awfully familiar, and the name almost rings a bell, but I can't place him. Somehow I have the idea that he was a kid actor on an old sitcom.

I belive that Brad got his big start with "Star Search" I think he one the Comedian championship in the show's first or second season.
He's done guest spots on several TV shows and a few films.
His gimmick on Star Search was his impersonation of Taxi's Reverened Jim.

He was in a series recently, the name escapes me but it was about 2 lawyers. He was the gay unscrupulous one.
He's a stand up comedian, too. A VERY funny one. His act is pretty wild. He also does dead on impressions of Herman Munster AND Frank Sinatra. (He has opened for FS for years in Vegas).
When he comes on "The Bob and Tom Show" on the radio (now syndicated), they have to "hit the button" a lot.
