Simple enough question. Does anyone know?
I almost caught it last night while watching "The Blood", but
dammit, my TV screen isn't big enough for me to pick out the
tiny details.

I dont think this is true..but I will do a very unscientific survey on the way to work tomorrow....we have many many combinations of numbers/letters. Hey Wait....!!!! my own first plate was 3 letters and then 3 numbers BNV 577 and I had another one..with 3 letters and 3 numbers...FWH 490..many years ago...so...forget the survery, for I am it!

It's JVN 728 I think (from memory) they showed the plate as he was reading it so the mumble didn't ruin it. BTW the plates in NY are not like you say unless you mean NYC then I wouldn't know.....

***again, I have lived in nyc all my life..and I have had about 5 cars....I have had "letter number number- number letter letter" "letter letter letter number number number" etc...It depends where you get your plates..I have seen NUMEROUS variations in my 34 years.... Do u know something the DMV doesnt know..???***

No...I was agreeing with you.....I used to live in NY state and my plate was LWJ 918....BTW my name isn't Larry Wigge, he is a sports writer for The SportingNews....this has confused many people so I guess I should take the credit out of the quote but since it was published I'll probably be going to jail soon......

That's interesting, because I was in NY last summer (both NYC and upstate) and the plates I saw were mostly of the A12-3BC type. I usually notice this stuff, but I don't know why...
New York is too close to Canada, where the postal codes are LNL NLN format. It's rubbing off on you.

It depends where the plates are picked up/and or where you buy the car.I bought my car in Larchmont ( westchester ) but lived in the bronx at the time and it is letter number number...number letter letter.....Go Figure....
