Many people say the last season is shit... But Try 'the bookstore' in the first minutes ... Jerry leaves the appartmewnt, Kramer reorganises everything, demolishes his phone and has a party with 50 people in Jerry's apartment. Then Jerry comes home and all he has to worry about is a glass not on a coaster... that's really the classic stuff !!

It's sort of refreshing to have an argument every now and then. It cleans the air a bit, almost like in real life.
And we can't all agree on everything, not even on the issue of netiquette. Plus mr/ms MG now seems to have become our own Woody Woodpecker, the trouble maker! Call me crazy, but I sort of like that!

Yep, I agree completely. This thread has taken a bit of a nasty turn so I'm not sure I should get involved... However, I have to put in my $0.02 that Kramer is quite obviously doing an impression of Jerry's stand-up routine, rather than some generic "talk show host".
Yes, let's try to keep the nasty stuff out of the Seinfeld newsgroup, please. This is coming off worse than when Elaine told Jerry's Nanna to drop dead. Of all the newsgroups and mailing lists, I look to this newsgroup to be a fun and relaxing place to be. I really look forward to reading it. Makes me feel better that others are just as interested in the show as I am and some very good discussions. If this becomes a place of stresss instead of fun, then it doesn't serve the spirit in why the newsgroup exists.
I am not taking sides in the discussion, just suggesting it be done without personal attacks. After all, if someone likes Seinfeld well enough to read this newsgroup and post, that makes them a lot more interesting than people who just don't get what is funny about Seinfeld.
I think Kramer was trying to do a knock-off impression of Jerry's stand-up. I think Richards wasn't trying not to do it over the top, otherwise it might look like it was making fun of Jerry, instead of just making fun of Kramer by being silly enough to try to pretend to be like Jerry doing stand-up.

While this is possible, it seems to me you're just extemporising. Why would Richards deliberately miss a chance of doing an accurate impression of Jerry? He tried and it didn't come off, enough to confuse some people. Since I don't think you would contrive such a convoluted explanation just to defend Richards' acting, you are either being funny or you really believe it. If the former, well done, if the latter, a little Occam's, please.
I'm very glad they did an acknowledgement to the Merv Griffin Show. Merv was on the other night on the Kilborn(sp?) show late at night. Merv is always entertaining. I have fond memories of coming home from school as a kid and watching Merv's show. I hope a younger audience who didn't know who Merv was, was somehow (syndicated Merv shows?) was able to check him out.
The format of that show fit Kramer's apartment since it didn't require a desk like other talk shows.
