"Yada Yada Yada,get a life
A television show starring a prickly self absorbed stand up comedian
ends its critically acclaimed run this month. The star is still at the
top of his game.So we lament the passing of "The Larry Sanders Show"
starring Garry Shandling.
 What's that? Huh? You mean all the fuss is about ANOTHER show?
  Okay,let's try again.
   A television show starring a prickly self absorbed yada yada yada.
You know the drill.
   We will miss Jerry Seinfeld and his pals,too. "Seinfeld" was a
wonderfully funny show; inventive even, a clever ensemble of
characters-Jerry,Elaine,Kramer,George and the rest.
    Over Seinfeld's 9 seasons it has taken on cult status that has
reached second coming proportions in recent weeks as the end draws
nigh."Seinfeld" was about nothing and everything and defined its times
as only a pop culture hit can-not intellectually or brilliantly but
through what makes us laugh.
      During the 94-95 season,"Seinfeld" finished first in the ratings
for the entire season,a feat matched by only 9 other situation comedies
in the first half century of commercial television.
      Let's take a stroll down memory lane,shall we? The others were "I
Love Lucy", "The Beverly Hillbillies","The Andy Griffith Show", "All In
The Family", "Happy Days", "Laverne and Shirley", "The Cosby SHow",
"Roseanne" and "Cheers."
     Some were slower  and sweeter,others edgier and more
issue-oriented.. Were they all great shows? Are you kidding? "Laverne
and Shirley"? "The Beverly Hillbillies"? Let's say this: most defined
their times as dead-on as "Seinfeld" did and the rest did no harm.
      Those of you out there for whom the departure of "Seinfeld" will
leave a huge,gaping void on  Thursday nights,may we offer this thought:
It's a television show,people. It'"s not disappearing. It will be in
syndication until your children's children are sick of the Soup Nazi and
Elaine's goofy boyfriends."
