another note on THE FINALE

ok, in response to the many people who say the Seinfeld finale gets better after many multiple viewings, thats sad .. i mean, somethings either funny or it's not. why waste all that time trying to find something redeemable in a crappy 75 minute episode?

Why waste your time preaching about how horrible you found an episode when it's fairly obvious that people have pretty much made up their minds already.

You're saying it's sad that each time I watch an episode, I find some new subtle in-joke or nuance that I hadn't noticed before?

i was "preaching" against all the posts urging people to re-make up their minds, not vice-versa...

Maybe Dave is the foster parent of the babies abandoned by Jerry, Larry, etc. I do understand his feelings, and took it both tongue in cheek and seriously at the same time. I"m one who did not like the finale at first but after seeing it (or the last part of it) for the second time, I saw things I had not at first and had a sense of what they were TRYING for. If I saw it a third time, maybe I'd really like it. I'm too busy desperately trying to tape episodes and then finding out I didnt get them. I lost a few when time changed because I forgot to change the VCR time. I can't believe i lost the Marine Biologist which I wanted to use in a class! Damn!!! So I have no time to watch episodes I already have on tape. And no time in my life. But I do intend to go back and see this one again. Hope you're still around when I do to reconsider this episode. I teach a class in the creative process (a college humanities course) and I wanted to use this one specifically because of the way it weaves the plots together - well, lots of them do this. I guess partly because it's a personal favorite. And my memory of it (without having seen it recently) is that it was particularly brilliant. I was looking forward to seeing it again myself! I cant believe it was the one episode that I somehow didn't get. Cynth

I disagree. Many episodes have gotten funnier after repeat viewings. A large part of season 8 for example. The reverse is also true. Many episodes have gotten less funny after repeat viewings. If you don't get a joke the first time, do you just give up or do you keep trying to get it for a while? You probably ponder it and tell it to yourself a couple of times until it starts to make sense. The same is true for anything else.
