Episode where Kramer is a pimp

I saw the clip show where Kramer is wearing that hat and robe and looks like a pimp. What's the title of the episode and when will it be on syndication?

Episode #129, "The Wigmaster" from season 7 (1996). Funny scene and episode, but now that you mention it, I haven't seen this in syndication. Perhaps I just missed it . . .

Before this starts a frenzy ("Oh my God, 'The Wig Master' doesn't air in syndication!"), let me reassure the masses that "The Wig Master" has aired in syndication. I've seen it. :-) And seeing as how I didn't start watching until June 1996 and have seen every episode at least three times, I think we can rest assured that they're all there somewhere. I don't know when it will air again, though. It hasn't been on in quite a while. Anybody know?

Speaking of this episode, I'd like to complain that Kramer was not a pimp; he just looked like one because of the unusual clothing he happened to be wearing. In the trial, no one speaks in his defense, or anyone's defense. There is no defense! And many of the charges are false. Yes, I know, it is supposed to be funny that Kramer "was a pimp." But he wasn't; nor did Elaine try to smother her boss with a pillow, etc. etc. Jerry stole the marble rye only after the old woman refused to accept $50 for it. They were guilty of some of the charges such as having the "contest" - big crime! Any competent defense lawyer would have gotten to the bottom of each incident cited, and showed most of the character assassinations to be misunderstandings. Also, Jackie Chiles' opening argument - the sole defense shown - was never developed or followed up.

And it was not true to character for any of them to sit there and take the lies being presented as facts. This was solely staged to be funny - whereas other episodes have been funny plus at least semi-believable - even the English Patient; even the Puerto Rican Day - even the Bris! - three examples of what I used to think of as weaker episodes. In comparison with the Finale they seem brilliantly crafted. I think the Finale would have been much better had other writers been allowed to collaborate with Larry David. For example, Larry Charles was one of the most brilliant writers. But I understand it was a matter of pride in the show's humble beginnings with just David and Seinfeld. I just feel David was a little out of touch with the way the show had developed after he left.

Another thing that sticks in my craw is the huge obsession with Teri Hatcher as Sidra, who in The Implants episode was not even that busty. Elaine has a larger chest - just remember Russell Dalrimple's glimpse of her spectacular chest, leading to his death at sea when trying to impress her; not to mention the time she inadvertently lost a button in the movie theatre; many of the female guests had larger chests, and in the courtroom scene where Teri Hatcher was virtually the star, they had to use cantilevered uplift and a lowcut dress to create cleavage.

For those of you who were dissatisfied with the Finale but couldn't quite figure out why, I suggest that it is because it was so thrown together with a few random references to what are perceived to be some of the best shows, while leaving many others out, and for being so mean spirited toward characters whom we had grown to identify with and love. The main actors were not allowed to shine brightly in the courtroom scenes - they were just backdrops - wasted. Of course overall it is still clever and interesting, but one cannot help noticing the problems with it and thinking about what might have been.

mudospun--I agree with everything you wrote. While reading your post I started getting angry again. Fortunately, I have been able to watch the reruns again and thoroughly enjoy them. But after the finale, I stopped watching Seinfeld for almost a month. The total botching of the finale and misreading of his audience makes me realize that Jerry needed to quit--since he seemed to have lost his bearings regarding the direction of the show. I am sure in time he will return--would love to see he and the gang in a movie together.>
