How come sometimes the characters invent movie titles (ie., 'Chow Fun', 'Rochelle Rochelle', 'Chunnel', 'Diagnosis Murder', etc.), and sometimes they actually use real movie titles (ie., the English Patient)? I understand that the English Patient's critique by Elaine was integral to the plot of that episode, but why not simply use all real movie titles?
By the way, can anyone tell me all the ficticious movie titles?

Diagnosis Murder was (still is?) a CBS drama. I think you mean "Prognosis Negative", a fake title.
Off the top of my head: Checkmate (fake) Sack Lunch (fake) Plan 9 from Outer Space (real) Home Alone (real) Breakfast at Tiffany's (real)

Actually the only REAL move titles they've used that I've seen are Schlinder's List, Breakfast at Tiffany's and the English Patient. The rest are fictictious and add to the feel of the show, setting it apart from the others.
The only one i can think of in addition to the ones you've mentioned is "Checkmate" If you can, see if you can catch the episode where Kramer gets his phone number mixed up with MOVIEFONE. When he's answering MOVIEFONE calls he mentions a bunch of ficticious titles.
i think the point of the fake movie titles is to poke fun at the cheesy real life titles nowadays. "deathblow" "prognosis negative" and "firestorm" are movies that I could totally see coming out. "deathblow" would have some overhyped vigilante like van damme or arnold. i imagine "prognosis negative" as a legal thriller starring the horrible lawyer-acting of richard gere. "firestorm" is unclear to me. maybe this could become a game or something; thinking of real life actors/actresses who could star in these fictitious movies.
