It's not fair!

Jerry shouldn't get 1 million and make the others get 600000. I know it is his show but the other characters work harder than him! It should all be equal! Jerry should get all the money. Each character should get 750,000 and make it equal!

Jerry Seinfeld is also executive producer and oversees every script. He does WAY more work than the other cast members.

I must admit that I, too, held the opinion that all the characters should get equal pay for equal work. However, I did not take into consideration the fact that Jerry does a lot of writing and producing, etc. So now it all makes sense to me. If he's doing more work, then he SHOULD get more pay. Fair is fair. :) Emily

So that is a total of $2,800,000. Split equally four ways that is $700,000 not $750,000.

Don't forget, he gets the check as an actor on the show like the others, but his checks as an executive producer and writer are what make his salary different.

In Hollywood, actors who are top box-office draws get about $20 million per movie, and they can make more than one movie per year. In this context, $600K per episode (or $1 million for Jerry Seinfeld) doesn't sound so outrageous.

Life is unfair; the top actors on Broadway display far more talent than nearly all movie actors, but their incomes don't even have the same number of zeroes. Even on TV, some of the best performances have been on short-lived series that didn't pay nearly as well.

Nevertheless, it's worth noting that, with the new salaries, "Seinfeld" probably will cost $3-4 million per half-hour episode to produce. Many FULL-hour TV series, even those that do location shoots or that have high production values (fancy sets, larger casts, special effects) cost less to produce.

If you're looking for crazy salaries, don't concentrate on "Seinfeld". Instead, look at the outrageous contracts awarded by sports teams to top players. Or, look at what celebrity product spokesmen are paid: Tiger Woods, who just signed on as a spokesman for American Express, will get $30 million over five years. Nice work if you can get it.

If he can get that much, then he is worth it. No one getting 600K should think he is being ill-used. I work harder than Jerry. Should I get that much? I though communism died with the Soviet Empire. Have a nice day...
