All right lets get to the heart of the matter here. Why is it wrong for Elaine to have sex with men she likes. What right does anyone have to insult or make moral judgements about the action of two consenting adults. She uses birth control, and at least since the sponge went off the market, she has obviously become more selective in who she will sleep with. What exactly is wrong with doing something that will bring pleasure to two people? I will never understand why humans continually feel the need to push their own morality onto other people. If what someone is doing doesn't interfere with your own right to life, liberty, and property, then leave them the hell alone.

Sorry if I overreacted here, I was stuck yesterday with several sanctimonious individuals who when they weren't telling me why the Simpsons was morally objectionable, were telling me how just about every female friend of mine was a slut. I didn't enjoy that experience and it left me in something of a bad mood, but at least they didn't have the guts to try to convince me of the evils of bisexuality again.

I must say, as a matter of opinion, that she has gotten utterly more gorgeous each season. He personality I think has varied almost more from episode to episode than season to season. Sure she has some continuity, but the situation she's in is what determines what parts of the character are exposed.

I like her this way. SEXY!!!!!!!!!

In My Opinion, Elaine is a very beautiful woman, with personality, a sense of humor, intelligence and spirit. The thing to question is how GEORGE gets all the women he gets. oh and one more thing.. i have a question for you: why so much hostility towards elaine? could it be you're a little jealous of her?

I don't think that Susan is anywhere near George's 'league' as you put it. George is a short, balding, individual with glasses who has a personality that consists almost solely of a fear of commitment and is neurotic and paranoid almost constantly. When contrast Susan's character to his, you can obviously see that George should consider himself very lucky and not dread his wedding date as much as he does. And, I will close by saying that for that very reason, I consider George to be an irratating fool.

George is not intentionally funny either... jason alexander & the writers intentionally make him funny. I gotta disagree with you. Is George an alcoholic, a drug addict, is he ever violent, there are people a lot worse than George, and the characters on Seinfeld have dated most of them. So George doesn't have a lot of ambition, he is working at his dream job (the Yankees) and he is actually respected by his bosses (they were going to promote him) To be a good person, do you have to have a relentless drive for sucess at work, what is wrong with just trying to be happy in a job you enjoy? And how you can call George stupid I don't know, he is obviously very creative given the schemes he has concocted, and he is certainly an interesting person to talk to. As for pathetic, George has his problems, but no worse than anyone else on the planet, if anything his life is on the rise lately. And as for your comments on him being integrity less and morally deunct, well maybe to some extent, but certainly not less than any of the other characters, George is actually loyal to his friends (he insults them far less than they insult him) and he shoes genuine concern for the welfare of others (he thought about the security guard at that store, how many people honestly give any thought to a rent-a-cops welfare) George is a much better person than you might think.

Well, I can assure you I am a very shallow person. I will come out and state that I think looks are important. They aren't the only factor, but I believe you need to be physically attracted to your mate, and I would not date someone I didn't find attractive. And now with that said, I will reiterate that I find George attractive. He isn't fat, he's .... stocky, yeah that's it. And so he has a minor bald spot, it could be worse at least he will never get a hair cut like the one Jerry got in that episode with Edward Scissorhands. I still think that George is cute, he just needs more selfconfidance.

Well, personally I find George to be rather attractive. He obviously is not gorgeous, but I find him to be cute. He is also intelligent, funny, creative, and you know you will never be bored around him. Fear of committment is common enough, and while George is neurotic and paranoid, those are two of the things I like most about him. Of course I am neurotic and paranoid as well, so I am somewhat biased, but from personal experience, I can say there are some people who enjoy being around neurotic people, people who find our stupidity charming. Maybe Susan is a person like that, her own life is fairly stable and secure, so maybe she needs someone who will get into fights with BubbleBoys and ask for exact change from her while her father's cabin is burning down. If Susan ened up with someone like herself, they would live a nice, stable, sucessful, and probably boring life, with 2.5 children and a dog. George adds energy to her life, and as I have already said it is never boring when George is around, you never know what he is going to do next. As for if George should consider himself lucky or not to be marrying her, well maybe he should, but the question isn't if Susan is better than George, the question is does George love Susan. Maybe he should, I don't know, but if he doesn't, then he shouldn't marry her, it is that simple. And if he doesn't love her now, he never will. I personally believe love is there right from the start, it is either there or it isn't, you might not realize what it is from the beginning but you know you feel something weird. And my gut feeling is that George does not love Susan, and because of that I don't think they should get married. It is nothing against Susan, I just believe you should only marry for love, and that if you marry for other reasons than you really won't be happy. Of course my own love life is completley screwed up right now, so what do I know?

For the record, I lodge my dissent from the premises posted here. I don't agree with much of the substantive things said and I listed my reasons before. I just feel that no post should go unanswered.

i think (and im just expressing My opinion) that elaine is the most well-written woman's character on television. its about time that a woman's character be allowed to actually enjoy sex and do something for her own pleasure. its what a lot of male characters have been doing all along - and i dont have a problem with it in either case.

they've made a point of supporting birth control on the show, which strikes me as a pretty responsible action - as opposed to the "immoral" accusations being thrown around.
