If you didn't think that THIS show was hilarious, you're crazy.

I especially liked the ending where they show George squinting to see what he thought was Jerry's cousin and girlfriend, and when he puts his glasses back on it's really a policewoman and her horse. The look on George's face is just perfect!!!

By the way, did anyone else notice George eating...what else but...ROLD GOLD PRETZELS during one of the scenes??? Doing a little extra advertising for these things JA??? _______________ --THIS WEEK ON SEINFELD--

I don't know. I didn't think this one was as good as the previous two, and probably below average for the series as a whole. Things were just a little too contrived and wrapped up by the end for me.

Did anyone notice that the eyeglass guy was played by the same guy who played (plays? Is it still on?) Parker Lewis' dad in Parker Lewis Can't Loose.

And what was the deal with George spotting the dime across the room?

I think the whole idea behind that was it was a planted dime. I saw the same predicament in another movie/TV show somewhere... the guy wanted to prove a point to he set up the room so that he memorized certain things about it.

It was in a Cheers episode. Cliff went blind whenever his girlfriend came into the room and wanted to pretend that he didn't.

This gimmick has been used again and again over the years in various mediums. The most famous, however, is a scene from the landmark film "The Great Escape" (1963). Donald Pleasance played a flyer with failing eyesight. He tried to convince James Garner he could see a pin from across the room.

YES!! I couldn't really relate to the Cheers reference (I'm not a big fan of the show), but the reference to the "Great Escape" rang a HUGE bell with me. Actually there was a movie, "The Great Escape" I think was the title. It was about a group of POW's trying to escape from their camp in Germany. One of the guys in the movie was starting to go blind, and if the others knew they wouldn't let him go, so he placed a dime on the farside of the room and tried the same thing. However, one of the leaders stuck his leg out as the guy was walking by and tripped him.

You are right about "The Great Escape" having a scene where a character goes blind and tries to fool someone be planting a dime across the room and then spotting it. I thought for sure that Jerry was going to say, "Nice try, I saw The Great Escape too." I wish he would have because then we'd know that George was copying someone else's trick, which is very much within George's personality.

Naah. It's "obviously" a tip-of-the-hat to the movie "The Great Escape". One of the characters stages a dime-spotting to prove that he can see well enough to join the escape team. Like George, he too is found out. (I mentioned this in the capsule.)

Good to know that with his copious free time, George can spare a few hours to watch some classic movies. Now that Kim Novak had some big breasts...

In the movie "The Great Escape", (about a prison break from a Nazi camp), a blinding prisoner pulled the "coin across the room" trick to prove he could see. Of course he had placed the coin there earlier. Seeing George pull this same thing was hillarious. I assumed it was a direct reference to the movie.
