Newman dies Next season!

God, The Milinium was terrible. Never before have I said that about an episode of this show. I've complained slightly about the disjointed somewhat "mainstream" NBC humor thats been spread through the show in Friends-like gags. But last nights episode was the pits. No intelligent Seinfeld fan can honestly call that as good as the comedy of past. And that earlier post about people like me not dealing with "change" well...the show has changed before, from about nothing to hilarious somethings that I could'nt get enough of. But in "The Milinium", the show not only lost it's character interraction, (which appeared in very rare moments throughout the half-hour), but it's realism took yet another plunge into the gutter...George ruining Babe Ruth's famous uniform, and then the World Series trophy is way too far fetched...first of all, as much as he wanted to be fired (coul'dnt he have just quit? but hey, there may have been something in the contract so I wont go into that), would he have gone so far as to ruin famous timepieces in Yankee history? Isn't he supposed to be a Yankee FAN?? In fact sports are one of the few things he's been loyal too.

And in one final note, is it possible Larry David could take some time out of his busy schedual to write at least this seasons finally and maybe put a little input into the series. After all, he has to be on the set or at least talking to the writers on the phone if he's supplying the voice of Steinbrenner as he has since the show's fifth season when George got hired ("the opposite").

If you are one of those people posting messages in this Newsgroup and the AOL "seinfeld thursdays" message board who keep saying how the show is just as good if not better this season are just one of the easily amused, you just can't argue with. In the AOL seinfeld message board theres all this talk about how the seventh season (last season) fails in comparrison with this seasons episodes. See, this is why the show changed, so people like you could enjoy it and feel like you were part of the Seinfeld obsession thats gotten so mainstream it's scary. Despit four or five standout episodes, this season should'nt have happened. "Quite while your ahead" is a golden rule for aging sitcoms. What happened to the Jerry Seinfeld who said he wanted to end the show after five seasons so it went out as a "gem". Of course he didn't know how what a phenom the fourth season would be and he kept going...and the seventh was great...but the old Jerry would have quite, but actually, the Jerry Seinfeld we know on the show would've easily went for the money NBC offered for this season and next..,it's human nature...

They should definately go on a ninth season, because ending on such a bad note as this season would suck worse than at least going for another four or five months and maybe re-capturing the magic...new writers maybe...I say we "complainers" go for emailing NBC and Seinfeld, although Jerry might be too busy counting his money to pay attention to petty fans like us...

What is it with these self-proclaimed "old-time fans" harassing others for enjoying the new episodes? Do you have a problem with other people having more fun than you? I've been watching "Seinfeld" for a very long time, and I think this season is on par with the seasons of past. I guess this makes me an idiot, in your opinion. In my opinion, you people are overanalyzing fools who can't stop obsessing over every detail of a show to actually sit back and ENJOY IT (the person who started the "You idiots" thread is a prime example). Do you actually sit there while the episode is on, thinking, "Hey, that isn't 'nothing'! And neither is that! Why, things are actually *happening* on this show! It sucks!"

Jerry Seinfeld said in a magazine once that he just wants the show to be funny. The show is still undeniably funny (although "The Milennium" was kind of a stinker). So what's your problem? Are you jealous that we can still enjoy the show? Would it make you happy if everyone started hating the show? You must be a fun guy to hang around with.

No, but it does mean you never appreciated what made the earlier Seinfelds so enjoyable, refreshing, entertaining. The Millenium was an emarrassement!!

Yes, they have finished fimling for the year...they've been on hiatus since the beginning of April. They'll start filming again in August...apparently they film an episode about 5 weeks before it airs.

Well, you ALMOST stood up to the man, but backed down at the last minute.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Millenium.  Every line, every nuance was sheer joy!!
I'll tell you what, there's a new episode coming up this Thursday.  Don't watch
it.  Just pretent it didn't air.  Don't read the reviews.  For goodness sake, don't
read the posts!!  Just assume it was another repeat.  Howbout 'The Contest'.
Yeah.  There's one from a few years ago, that I'm sure you enjoyed.  Well, I'm
sure you'll be a much happier person, and the rest of us will be spared from
reading about how terrible the new season is.  Some of us actually seem to like
the new ones.

Thanks for this refreshing post. I agree with you what you say about the show this season. I hope it will go a ninth season because I would hate to see it end like this.

The May 15 finale has already been written (and possibly filmed too).

It is already filmed. It stars Raquel Welch and it's about Kramer joing the theater.
