COSMO KRAMER

Do you think the writers knew Kramer's first name all along but just kept it hidden for some seasons. Or do you think they thought up the name just for that episode, to finally reveal it.

I recall reading an interview with Michael Richards, where he stated that Larry David one day called him up to his office to discuss the first name and that they finally came up with Cosmo. But I'm not sure...

Good question. I don't think they gave Kramer a first name until it became an issue.

For a while, it was a huge topic for discussion in this newsgroup.
Then, once the name was revealed, the main topic changed from "Do you
think they'll ever reveal Kramer's first name?" to "Do you think they
read this newsgroup, and saw our discussion, and decided to give us an
answer?"

Ah, the good old days. Sure, there have been examples of tidbits that seem to have shown up in episodes just a few months after the subjects were brought up in the newsgroup. Enough time for *whomever* to read what we were wondering about and get something into the episode they were filming at the time.

I have always believed that people involved in production, whether the actors, producers, writers, or even the grips or gaffers, lurk in this newsgroup and possibly even contribute under an assumed name. It's just too easy to get here. Free market research just by subscribing to a newsgroup.

For a while, I actually thought Justin Tribble *was* Larry David :)

Dunno. Weird guy, weird name I guess....

At any point in the seinfeld show do they ever actually make a point of not knowing Kramer's first name? I' have seen almost all of the episodes, and I didn't even know that he had a first name until they brought it up when George found out. I always thought Kramer WAS his name.

What about the one where Elaine's pshyciatrist (I can't spell it) had control over her, and she told him that she was dating a guy named Kramer, and he questioned the name Kramer. Does this count?
