So what's the deal with The Vault?

Okay those of you ooutside the NYC area might not know about the place George's date took him on the 10/3/96 episode. My wife and I had a momentary laugh and then it fell apart when it turned out differently than expected.

Picture this:

First you hear George is going someplace. Next, they show a picture of a club with two illuminated V's in the windows and hear George say, "Gee, I always thought this was a meat packing plant."

Those were the only two clues my wife and I needed to recognize a NYC landmark right of the West Side Highway, in the area of twon where they do quite a bit of meat packing. That exterior shot belonged to The Vault, one of NYC's oldest S&M clubs.

We were laughing hysterically, expecting George to be walking hunched over the next day with a few bruises here and there. Instead, it turned out that they just borrowed the exterior for a real club.

They should have went with the bondage club. Would've been funnier.

And what was the deal with that ending?? Suddenly it's a meat packing plant again? What -- it's converted one day a week? Was George hallucinating the previous times he was there? A little too bizarro even for Seinfeld.

Here is my spin on this ....

earlier in the episode at the Coffee Shop George was looking at the picture of Jerry�s new girl friend (big hands) . He said that beautiful girls all hid out together and guys like him couldn�t even get in the club. When George said he was going to use the picture to get in the Club ... Elaine told George (something like this) "Oh ...now that you know where they (the beautiful girls) are we will have to move the whole place!"

That's what happen at the end of the show.... the models moved their hideout because George found them. That is .... like in a James Bond movie ... James has see the bad guys hide out the night before ... but when he go

back to the same place the next day with the cops.... everything has been changed.

Except ... last night .... they forgot to pick up George�s newspaper photo of a model!

No, it's just that the "forbidden city" of beautiful women had to pack up and move to another location (as Elaine mentioned earlier in the episode) because George had figured out where it was and how to get it.

I think you missed a subtle joke. George says, "I always thought this was a meat market." which can be taken two ways. A place where they package and wholesale meat, or a bar where you go to pick up one-night-stands. The fact that it literally turns out to be a meat market ties in with Elaine saying that they'll have to move the "model's only" club. And no, George wasn't dreaming, they flash to the magazine ad that he dropped on the floor, just to prove that the hidden city was there at one time.
