100th episode - possible explanation

In an article, [email] (Dan Rogovin) writes:

"The Seinfeld Chronicles" was the name of the pilot episode. It was later rebroadcast along with four other episodes to form the first season during the summer of 1990. These five episodes are episodes 1 through 5 on every list I've seen. Sorry, but they've already been counted.

The official title of the upcoming special scheduled for 2/2/95 is "Seinfeld's Highlights of a Hundred." One ad I saw actually referred to it as a new episode. If so, this would be the 100th--if you count all four hour-long episodes as 2 episodes each. Now you could throw a monkey wrench into my well-oiled sprocket by pointing out that the special will be an hour long, which would make it episode 100 *and* 101! Go figure.

I think I may have some info that could clear this up, however I cannot explain why the 100th anniversary show is being aired this week. When I found out how to request tickets from the faq, I gave this info to a friend of mine, and she mailed in for tickets also. By some amazing stroke of luck, she got her tickets after waiting less than 2 months, and she went to the filming on January 18. She said they had a cake and a celebration for that filming being the 101st episode. That episode will not be aired for a few more weeks, allowing time for post-production, etc. So I'm pretty sure they'll show episodes 96, 97, 98,99, and 100 on Feb 9, 16, 23, etc.
