Fans or Foes??

What's wrong with you people?? I thought we were all fans of this show?!

I think you people who are bitching about the format of the first two shows should just SHUT UP!! As I see it, you're trying to compare these new shows to older ones that you thought were better. Do you really think that every show can be just as good as "The Contest"?? Let's get realistic here, people. I don't know about any of you, but I laughed my head off watching these first two shows. And then, when I go to read this newsgroup to read about the shows, all I see are postings that blame the writers and cameramen for making a show that "does not meet our standards." What's the deal with complaining about "choppy scene switches and an annoying laughtrack?" I didn't notice any of these things when I watched the shows. And let's give the writers a break. Your high expectations for the new shows to be just as good as "The Contest" have put unnecessary pressures on them, and I think that is why they have so many references to that particular show in the new shows. It is intended to please you people, and yet you criticize them for referring to their greatest achieve- ment in their new shows. Let's give them some credit, not crap. They cer- tainly deserve it.

I've been a fan of Seinfeld from the very beginning, and I'm not about to desert them now. If you people want to go on bitching about new shows, fine, but you can't expect to be considered fans of the show. Real fans support any changes or happenings in their favorite shows. I think that if this show is to continue, it will have to have the fans' continued support.

This is a *discussion* group, not a worship group! Most discussions include some disagreements - that's what makes them interesting to participate in. If this group is only going to include comments where everyone gushes about how incredible Jerry is, then you can count me OUT. Frankly, I'm getting tired of the media falling all over themselves in Seinfeld-adoration now that the show's so successful. I've also been watching the show since the beginning, and my opinion is that the show is NOT improving - the older episodes (before the show became trendy) were just better. Commercial success is not always such a good thing - I hope the Seinfeld writers prove me wrong and this season turns out to be dynamite - but I doubt it.

As for the writers of the show, I don't think we owe them any adoration because we're fans of the show. Their job is to write good shows so that viewers will watch the shows AND THE COMMERCIALS. All of us in this newsgroup really enjoy the show and tell others about it. I can't tell you how many people I've turned on to the show. In a way, we've helped to make everyone involved with the show incredibly rich, so I don't feel guilty pointing out when the show doesn't live up to its potential. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the show - I just want it to be as great as it can be.

Geez thanks for telling us how to think. I was under the assumption this board was to discuss Seinfeld openly an honestly, not to worship it like some sacred cow.
