Seinfeld makes history

Television has its "Titanic". Seinfeld, thanks to new syndication deals, will be the first 1.5 billion dollar grosser in only its first run through syndication. The Cosby Show, the other 1 billion dollar grosser from television, barely made it to 1 billion despite it being in syndication for 10 years. Just like Titanic changed the face of movies, Seinfeld has now changed the entire face of television. Most syndication markets have shown a great deal of interest in Seinfeld since its creator, Jerry Seinfeld announced that the show would air its last episode in May, and Castle Rock is eager to distribute Seinfeld to the highest bidder. The only other TV show that will probably reach 1.5 billion is Home Improvement, but that will be during H.I. second run through syndication, at that time Seinfeld would have made well over 2 billion dollars.

Seinfeld is already in syndication, so I don't think this new deal is a "first run" through syndication.... It's been syndicated for over a year hear.

Either way, Jerry Seinfeld is going to make a ton of money. Syndication is where the money is. Besides getting $1 million an episode for acting, writing, and producing the store, he will be getting $50-$100 million from syndication. But I wonder if the other actors get a cut of the syndication deal this time around?
