Was Newman choking?

Was Newman choking to death after the verdict was read?

I thought so. And I thought that Jerry was going to apply the Heimlich on Newman, or give him the breath of life or start his heart or something.....thus proving in a court that he has a heart. But no.

Best moment of that baaaad show; Newman sleeping in his car surrounded by junk food.

yeah... I really thought Jerry would save Newman. Or maybe Kramer would help Mrs. Costanza (what the hell happened to her?). That might have been a better ending, but it still wouldn't have come close to saving that awful finale.

Unbelievably poor writing. They should have just done a solid half-hour w/ Larry David -- just like the old days. Is there some law stating that every finale has to have some sort of closure and be drawn out to 75 minutes complete w/ clips from past shows? I don't think so.

But that was the point. It was meant as a ridicule of finales. It was satire of the fans who bought the hype, the media that bought the hype, and tv in general. It was a fitting ending for a great show that was given faaar too much significance.

Yes he was and no one has mentioned this. Perhaps one of the alternate endings had him choke to death. He was certainly no saint either and he's still free. No lesson in that.

I expected Jerry (or perhaps all four of them) to leap to Newman's rescue, performing the Heimlich and saving his life. This would have shown the judge that they were _not_ "guilty bystanders", and perhaps they would have escaped prison time. Could this have been one of the so-called "alternate endings"?
