Think about it For a Second

I thought the final ending in the jail cell was just beautiful. It put such a great closure to the whole show. I don't usually use words like "metaphors" but the jail cell ending was a great metaphor for the end of the show. The gates are locked and the characters that we love are inside. It's over and that's that. Nothing special but it got their point across and did it elegantly too. Few shows can so meaningfully end their runs and if you think about, it couldn't of ended any better. Now if only "The Simpsons" were smart enough to end their run while they're on top like "Seinfeld" ...

I like your analysis, and have to agree. I think many of the people who say they didn't like it really mean they didn't get it.

But what about Beavis and Butt-head? That's an animated show and they decided to bring it to a painless, well-timed end. Probably beacuase unlike the Simpsons, it is held by mostly one person.

Ah, but is it? If the jail cell is indeed a metaphor, how do we incorporate the knowledge that they're getting out in a year? Will Seinfeld continue...?

Amen to that brother! I love The Simpsons too, but the last two seasons have been sooooo stale. Its time to put a stake in it. Maybe Fox will see the Seinfeld ratings and think about it.
