I find Jerry to be the least funny character on the show but I guess that is intentional. He is suppose to represent us or the sane character in the midst of the all of the insanity. I also have never liked the opening where he is doing standup. He really never does work other then the opening credits. The rest of the time he hangs out at home much like Kramer who also does not appear to have a job. To me the show is George, Kramer, Elaine, etc.

Though it doean't appear as funny in print, if you saw it you'd know. Also in the Junior Mint when they're in the hospital and Jerry has his yo-yo:
