I watched on tape this weekend what I think is a *very* funny ep, the one where Jerry and Elaine breifly get back together.
There is one thing that always puzzles me. When they are making their "rules," they try to decide what to do about the good-night kiss. Elaine says something that sounds like, "Bush-wah."
What is this word and what does it have to do with kissing?

I believe that she may be saying Bourgeois, as in Bourgeoise. I think it means pompous, or Middle-upper class or something like that. Shea

Bush-wah. Yes, I think it's a scornful way of saying "bourgeois." I remember Jackie Gleason (as Reginald van Gleason III) using it some forty years ago....

Bourgouis (sp?) : originally a name for the French upper-middle class, later used as an adjective to indicate belonging to the middle class, now expanded to mean (roughly) cliche'd, hackneyed, boring, stereotypical, drearily everyday, etc.etc.
