In "The Shoes", Jerry and George meet with Dowripple (sp?) to discuss the script of the pilot they're working on.

George mentions he knows somebody that works at Bouchard's and that they use the bouillabaisse as a toilet.....so "stick with the consomme".

At the end of the show, Elaine mentions that Dowripple is taking her to Bouchard's. George starts coughing/choking trying to say something....Jerry tells Elaine to go with the bouillabaisse and George nods in agreement.

Why would Jerry say to go with the bouillabaisse (and why would George agree)?

It seems like a script mistake to me.

Jerry and George want to keep on Dowripple's/Elaine's good side, don't they?

Yes. A show about nothing, where everyone's lovely to each other, and look out for one another would be hilarious wouldn't it.

I think Jerry and George are telling her to go with the bouillabaisse because just before she mentions Bouchard's, she is giving them a hard time about not having her in the pilot. She's kind of dangling her connection with Dalrymple over their heads.
