Hidden meaning in final episode???

I've never posted to this group, or even subscribed until now. (After the show is over -- figures, uh?) But my feeling on the final episode was this: it was, in sorts, a social statement. The four were thrown in jail for basically being themselves, and they were not hurting anyone, just innocent people who witnessed a crime, and for that they are thrown into jail??? The hidden meaning: the innocent are the ones who suffer and get the punishment in this society while the guilty go free. This is just my opinion, but for a series that never really made a social statement, this could have been it. I think it makes sense because many people who are guilty always get off while the innocent get off. That's just my opinion.

Also, I think Johnny Carson will be on the Tonight Show tonight. Remember, he's the one who basically gave Jerry his big break, so it would only make sense!

I don't think that this what was going on at all -- it was surrealism -- they ARE guilty: of being selfish scoundrels for the last nine years. That's the whole point of the episode, not their innocence, but their guilt. But the "happy" ending is that their selfishness and ennui transcends even prison -- Jerry is onstage joking about anal rape, of all things. The "joke" is on society -- not even prison will change these characters. It was short on the laughs, but a great concept.
