To me this was vintage George. This is the guy who got his picture taken next to the casket to get the funeral fare so he could become "the boyfriend," only angered by the funeral beacuse of how it effected him. He doesn't have the depth to comprhend what he's done to Susan, so he does what is George, tries to make a dtae with Marissa Tomei the day after the funeral. It's very awkward to watch because none of the characters know how to react. It's a statement of human nature for the most part, generally speaking, and that's what Seinfeld does. It was Larry David's last show and he really wanted to bring that home with something dangerous and not particularly appealing. What made it funny to me was that George took Susan from big NBC Exec, to unemployed, lesbian and back, and finally, because of his cheapness, death. George Reaction to Susan's Death
Fans praise George's characteristically selfish and empathetic-lacking response to Susan's death, viewing it as authentic to his character and a bold move by Larry David for the show's final season.
Actually George's response was natural for him.
In an episode in syndication last night (8/5, I think--I am suffering from too much Olympics!) George is ecstatic because he gets Susan fired from NBC and is more concerned that the Chinese food he ordered is okay when the delivery dude is in an accident (caused by Elaine) while delivering it.
George pretty much lacks empathy or compassion. You gotta like that in a person :)
How did Susan die anyway? Too bad it happened...

Looks like George could sue the company that made the envelopes that killed Susan. I hope he gets Jackie Chiles to be his lawyer! That would be a great episode!

Rick, The latest Susan died because they (her and George) wer preparing for the wedding adn bought some old, cheap wedding invittions. Susan licked everyone personally, and got poisoning from the old glue, and died.
