The Millennium 5/1

I think some people have had their everyday balloons popped.

This episode was absolutely, without a doubt the worst episode of Seinfeld that I have ever seen. Every subplot was completely moronic and unfunny, particularly all the George stuff. And, no matter what some other posts might say, Jerry's last line was wrong. Newman's party on New Year's Eve 1999 would be too EARLY, not too late.

Okay, for the last time: Newman said that he had booked the restaurant for the millennium new year. That would be 12/31/00. What he meant to do is book the restaurant for 12/31/99 to celebrate the beginning of the next century, not millenium. It's all semantics and Newman didn't get it. Got it?

IMHO I thought the episode was pretty funny. And yes, people really are planning parties for 12/31/99 right now. I read that the top of the space needle in Seattle has been booked for almost 10 years by a family from Oregon.

A millenium and a century end on a common boundary. The 20th Century and the second millenium end on midnight December 31st 2000. Jerry's explanation was exactly correct. There was NO year zero. The first day of a new century or Millenium also starts on Jan 1st in the year ending in "01". This was by degree of Pope Gregory XIII, correcting an error made by Dionysius Exiguus in 532 AD.

SOOOOOOOOO... what ever Newman said was the start of his party, Jerry's comment about the start date of the millenium being Jan 1, 2001 is correct. That is also the start date of the 21st century. It would make sense that Jerry was ridiculing a millenium party of on Dec 31, 1999. Why he said Newman's part would be LATE, seems to be and error in the dialog.

This speed dial story was a direct parody of "The Graduate". Jerry was in the Dustin Hoffman role, with the stepmom in the Anne Bancroft role. This was hysterical! There was one line that was a direct quote from "The Graduate" with just names replaced.

This was another classic Kramer take. A teeth gritting take when he reads the invitation. I laugh at every take that Michael Richards comes up with.

This is classic George Costanza. He fails to fail.

I can't agree with Craig's assessment of this episode. I laughed alot. Episodes may not be as good as the earlier seasons, but 5/1 had a lot of funny stuff in it.

Again, find myself in general agreement. I find myself looking forward to the daily re-runs more than the weekly new shows lately. Guess I'm just spoiled by past seasons.
