Why does Jerry hate Newman?

Besides the obvious reason that Newman is Newman, has anyone seen what happened first to make Jerry hate Newman so much?

According to Entertainment Weekly, a specific cause for the hatred was never given on the show.

Best Newman line (after taking a bite of broccoli): "Vile weed!" [spitting it out]

Whatever it was, it happened before the TV camera intruded on Jerry's life.
What I mean is, nothing happened on the show to cause the hatred, it existed
before the point in Jerry's life when the filming started.

I'm pretty sure that I saw the show that caused or at least accentuated the hatred. Jerry was out at Schlinder's List with one of his many girlfriends. They weren't paying attention to the rather somber movie, and for some reason began to laugh or make-out. Newman happened to be in the audience viewing the whole episode, and then took great pleasure in tattling on Jerry and his girlfriend to her parents I believe. As a note, I believe that her character was Jewish too, making their lack of interest in the movie even more problematic. After that Jerry began to sneer Newman's name as only he could whenever he saw him.

It is known only as "the incident." Judging from Newman's secret life as a postal worker (his REAL life consists of of schemes, plans and almost illegal ventures), I would say that Newman may have gotten Jerome in hot water with the gendarmes at one time or another.

I think it is more of an opposite repels situatioin. After all, Newman appears to be everything Jerry is not. Newman is a slob (JS is neat), fat (skinny) and unkempt (well-dressed). It reminds me of how guys can be at the high school level. As a matter of fact, many of the sub-plots of the show are expansions of "high school behavior". Anyway, I own a two family house in another town, One of my tenants is a guy named Robert Spencer, but everybody calls him Spence. He is very much like the Newman character. When I greet him, I usually do it as a mimic of Hellllllo Newmannnnn.

Well, for whatever reason Jerry hates Newman on the show, we know that Jerry must like Wayne a little in real life. If he didn't he wouldn't have him on the show.
