Okay, everyone knows he was the voice of Steinbrenner. My question is that didnt David leave the show around season seven. Well, Steinbrenner was in plenty of episodes after that. Did David come back just to do the voice?

He could have been sent the scripts, recorded Steinbrenner's lines, then sent it back to the studio. It's been done before; when Nick Bakay left the writing staff of "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" several years ago to become a consulting producer on "The King Of Queens," he continued to voice Salem the cat for the remainder of the series.

He also acted as Steinbrenner in some cases... "Curb Your Enthusiasm" gives these George meeting with Steinbrenner scenes a whole new vitality! Now when I see George yelling at George its like seeing Larry David rant on to Jason Alexander (he was after all Jasons boss - probably in a similar capacity as Steinbrenner) or a upon further analysis its like Larry David yelling at himself.
Its wierd like that... I wish I had a script in front of me so I could be more explicit.
Late last night one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes aired... The one where Larry David plays "The Man In The Cape"... Early in the episode its a long shot of New York city with Larry David standing talking to George's Dad while wearing a cape (do you see the authorship implications here?).
Its possible I am reading too much into this... thats the genius of Larry David
