yes , that hug was spoofing the final scene in Midnight Cowboy. It was hilarious!! My girlfriend couldnt understand why i was cracking up laughing (she hasnt seen Midnight Cowboy).

This is borrowed from the movie Midnight Cowboy. In the climax to the film, Joe Buck and Ratso Rizzo are finally going to Florida but Ratso is declining by the minute. Without giving away any of the plot since I think you should see this film if you have never, Jerry is Joe Buck and Kramer is Ratso.
