"Murdered" Saab in last night's Seinfeld (5/02/96)

A V-6 Turbo Saab 900? Anyone else catch this? Geez, those writers think they can get away with anything!

Letter carriers DON'T drive over the road trucks for the USPS. That work is all contracted out and they WOULDN'T send 5 small trucks - they'd send one semi.

That was probably the funniest episode that I've seen in a LONG time!!!! What a hoot!!

Actually, this episode probably ranks in the bottom 10% IMHO. Most of the 1 hour episodes are fairly weak, and this was the worst. Some decent ideas were ruined by idiotic scenes. I hope this is not a sign of future decline, which has been partially evidenced this season. Mother of mercy, could this be the end of Seinfeld?

As I recall it was a V-6 Turbo 9000, which doesnt make any sense since Jerry's car was a convertible and there is no 9000 conv. Also he said he had a 900s but doesnt the convertible only come as a 900se and higher?

I think he HAD a 900 Convertible. I saw him drive (yes in the show) a E36 and a E34.

The 900 S comes as a convertible; that's what Jerry said he had. When did the V-6 get mentioned? I never heard it. BTW, he drove a BMW 325 last year.

My original post referred to the Saab "murder" scene where the detective lead Jerry and Elaine to the chop shop. The detective made some comment like "We could tell it was a Saab from the angle of the V6". He later commented on how the "turbo was shoved all the way up the intake manifold" or something like that. I'm sure someone has a website with the transcript for the episode if you want the exact quotes...

I read that Jerry collects cars in real life. I think he has 8 Porsches!!! Good grief!

I think they corrected the assumption when the real owner of the car showed up on the scene. She asked if it was a midnight blue Saab 9000. Is this the turbo version (I'm not very knowledgable on Saabs)?

I found the whole episode to be rather lame, actually.

I think the joke was that the cop made a mistake. Later on, a woman came over and said she had a Saab Turbo 9000, which i think there actually is.

But I don't know anything about Saab's ... not that there's anything wrong with that!

okay, here goes..... jerry has a Saab 900S convertible, as he states explicitly right after he discovers that the Saab in the warehouse is not his. this means that his Saab is a 4 cylinder, not a V6, and not turbocharged (this is the base model convertible). The woman's car is a Saab 9000CS/CSE 4 cylinder turbo (if anyone cares). Saab does not manufacture a turbocharged V6 engine, but the 900 convertible (no, there is no 9000 convertible) is availiable as a 4 cylinder, a turbocharged 4 cylinder and a V6. hopefully, this clears it all up for you guys.

Yet another quirk on the Saab info. Jerry mentioned that he had carburator trouble in the same episode. Saab has not made a carburated engine in many years. As you may or may not know, Jerry's car is only about 2 years old. Therefor the car does NOT have a carburator, it has fuel injection. Dispite this fact, I still love the show and rolled on the floor laughing over this episode.
