Anybody else get PEZ for Christmas? I got a Batman dispenser. (My girlfriend said they didn't have any Tweety Birds. But Batman's cool, too!)

Damn, they're hard to load. Can't remember the last time I tried, must be over twenty years ago.

Can't wait to whip out the old PEZ at some serious event. Maybe I'll casually set it on my office neighbor's desk while he's in the middle of a serious discussion with his boss, or I'll set it on the table at my next staff meeting...

Yes -- I got a Daffy Duck. My wife could only find Daffy.

This was my first, and yes, it was tough. But ...

I am best man at my brother's wedding on January 2. I probably
will not whip out Daffy during the ceremony, but I do plan to
offer Anthony a Pez in the last minutes before the ceremony starts.
That should loosen him up as his feet get coldest.

I found the last one in a candy store, and put it in my wife's stocking. It was a Kermit!

I think PEZ is making a comeback...I have 2 now, and I know of at least 5 or 6 other people that have them... I wonder if it has to do with Seinfeld...?

I'll tell you what it has to do with. My wife and I, that's what!
We've carried around a Kermit Pez for over a year and a half now. It
now lives in our camcorder case and comes out whenever we're filming
somewhere. Well, you see, when my wife was visiting Las Vegas in the
summer of 91 a Seinfeld writer must have been watching them, and got
the idea. There are other curious coincidences and I'm quite convinced
that NBC has a bug in my home, but I've yet to find it. They're
awfully clever. Anyway, I too heard that Pez is making a comeback. Our
Pez family reached 6 this Christmas. We have Kermit, Gonzo, a witch,
a snowman, Santa Claus and a skeleton.

OK. All this PEZ talk has prompted me to get off my duff and go over to our resident PEZmaster's desk, rip open her PEZ drawer and do inventory:

  • Sylvester - I gave her this for Christmas (to validate the subject line).
  • Garfield
  • Wonder Woman
  • Halloween Skull
  • Easter Lamb
  • Goofy
  • Halloween Pumpkin
  • Bugs Bunny
  • Easter Chick in Egg
  • Girl Smurf
  • Boy Smurf
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Spider Man
  • Santa
  • Snowman
  • Halloween Witch
  • Daffy Duck
  • Pluto

Her known PEZ needs include: Batman, Tweety.

She offers the following PEZofile info: "The original PEZ, which are on display at the PEZ manufacturing plant (of which she has toured, I believe), do NOT include feet."

More PEZtrivia to follow.

Does anyone know if Jerry`s "Tweety" has feet. The one I was just given does. I would think it would fall over without feet.

"Tweety" actually has little tufts of plastic "feathers" sticking out the top of his head. Very acurate to the real "Tweety" but quite a hazard for small children and PEZ pocket possession.

"Do you ever yearn?" (I did until I got my "Tweety" PEZ dispenser) Tony

Au contraire, my friend. I gave my roommate a Tweety dispenser for Hannukah, in the tradition of the show (it was also the first episode we saw together), and to "test it out" she stood it up on my leg. It worked.

They're damn sharp, too, if you catch them at a wrong angle. Jeesh!

Here's a totally unrelated question: I was on vacation this past month and missed a lot of the posts. Did anyone post the name of the Scotch Kramer was "advertising"? Is it a real brand?

I know, I can't carry a tweety in my pocket. I'm afraid I'll puncture my
scrotum.

I had a PEZ dispenser when I was visiting Germany in about 1965 (give or take a few yrs) way before they were to be found in the U.S. I think it was a Disney character, but it might have been a nondescript (non-Tweety) bird, I'm not sure. God, I wish I'd saved it!

I'd also like to add that Pez dispenser's aren't meant to stand up (contrary to Jerry's music recital antics)--they had no feet or feathers or anything else. Sure, they'll stand but just move the table a bit and they topple.

No. Pez candies have been there all along. Disney characters have been widely available in recent years. But there was a Presidents line of dispensers available back in '76. A double wide Taft, a Carter w/ lots of teeth, a Nixon which belched and then said "Pardon me..." [Anyone out there believing any of this?]...

Try Toys 'R' Us. The not only sell a wide variety of the dispensers, but also several sizes of refills.

Pez with feet??????????

I've never seen a Pez with feet and I had Pez's when I was a little kid.

My Kermit Pez stands just fine w/o feet. It has been on my bookshelf for months and has yet to fall over.

Pez w/feet is a desecration of all that is sacred in our national life.

Try one of those upscale candy stores in upscale malls. Around Boston there are a bunch named "Oola" (? I think) ?). I found packs of seven: two grape, three orange, two red (cherry, strawberry?).

One of my joys of giving this Xmas was a tweety bird dispenser to a friend at work. He was quite pleased. "I've got hand!"

Sure. I had a JFK dispenser. I distinctly recall that the head went back and to the left, back and to the left, back and to the left ...

After what I saw a couple of weeks ago, I'll believe almost anything. I was in a toy store and came across a Colin Powell (Joint Chief of Staff, I believe) doll. Part of an "American Heroes" series.

Probably so. I got one for Christmas, a snowman. I also gave one to a friend, a Santa. The first thing she said was "Seinfeld!"

Ideal gift for a little boy: I got Colin Powell AND George Bush for my son when he was a year old (they are rubbery and good for chewing).

Good stuff Tom! That cracked me up for 5 minutes. On related PEZ sightings, I encountered the following in a National Lampoon magazine's "Letters to the Editors" section (it was of course funnier when I came across it buried in all the other letters):

Dear Sirs:

             You want one?...Eeeeech...Don't
push back on my head so far...
          aaaaaaaaaaach...Here, have another....

          you wanna give me whiplash?
