Did anyone think that it was a cliffhanger

i thought there were several open ends in the finale such as: mrs. costanza's encounter with the judge, did she die later, why did mr ross buy a gun, what did newman really plan to do, the situation with the pilot, bania, babu, etc...

There are ALWAYS open ends in EVERY story, just so long as at least one of the main characters is alive. Think of any movie you've ever watched or any novel you've ever read. No matter how "neatly" the story ended, there were always new possibilities for the haracters. real life never just ends; things constantly happen. Now matter HOW the finale ended, there would have had to be open ends.

In a strange way, the finale ended on a happy note. Even though the four all went to prison, they were still inseparable friends. You knew that after they get out of jail, they'll resume their lives and relationships as before. Furthermore, Jerry doing standup comedy in the prison show how he can make the best of a bad situation.

While there was room for improvement in other areas, the basic plotline of the finale was first-rate. And having them thrown in the can for a year was original and gutsy on behalf of all concerned. Such a thing has never been done before on a sitcom.

Yeah, good point, I'm waiting for Titanic 2 and JFK 2..
