Anyone hear anything about this show? I'm going to give it some serious consideration because of the fact the producers of Seinfeld are involved.

>appealing cast................"Appealing cast"? Hmmm. Seems to me I had to spend a long time arguing for how they WERE appealing when so many thought they deserved to be carted off to jail. :)
I'm actually disappointed to hear this as it is the appealing cast that is an integral part of what I like about the show.
For some reason, it makes me think of the move from Star Trek NG to Deep Space Nine - still interesting plots, but not as appealing a cast.

Kind of an interesting twist in "Its Like...You Know", having jennifer Grey play herself. But how embaressing would it be for her to get a bad review for playing HERSELF. I mean you would have to be pretty bad to have someone say you can't even play yourself. Just a thought.

JeremyI thought it was a good start. Some obvious Seinfeld moments ("It's guys like him that make America great" "Yes, he makes America great." "Not us." "No, we don't make America great." reminded me of the "We're not men" conversation between Jerry and George.) Looks like it'll be fun.

It is Nick Bakay. He was Elaine's boyfriend in The Smelly Car. And how can we forget A J Langer whom we saw earlier in the day in the syndicated sein ep called The Fatigues. She was Jerry's girlfriend who had a mentor that was going out with Kenny Bania. Another Seinfeldian moment was a discussion on where the letter Q ought to fall in the alphabet.

Not an absolute laugh riot, but then, pilots seldom are, since they have to be more concerned with introducing the characters and establishing the premise. It was highly amusing, though, and shows a lot of promise. I agree that there were obvious Seinfeldian moments, but what the heck, they were funny and clever and got the style and tone right, which is more than be said of most shows' attempts at such. I'm really looking forward to next week.
I liked this show. I will certainly tune in every Wednesday. I love the fact that these two guys are so rich! My favorite scene was when that girl from NY on the plane went on and on about herself and then the guy next to her (forgot his character name) just asked in complete puzzlement: "And your name is...??" LOL

I watched it, and must say I enjoyed it. Yes, it was clearly Seinfeld goes to L.A. (kind of what would have happened in the Finale if they weren't arrested). I also enjoyed seeing Elliot Gould, I had seen M*A*S*H the movie earlier this month and to see him again brought a smile to my face. The characters seem nice enough, the bald guy gets on my nerves, I can't explain why, he just does. Jennifer Grey (is that her name) was pretty good, that whole conversation between her and the NY guy (damn, what's his name?) about if she spelled her name the same way as the actress was great (of course the better part was the talk they had getting to the fact that she had a nose job.) Oh and the whole bottled water thing was enjoyable too...
I look foward to next weeks episode, the gang (feels weird saying that and not refering to Seinfeld) watch a car chase, which is like a snow day in L.A. (sounds fun)...

We of course have the same four basic archtypes, however the central character [names escape me right now] (the writer) and his friend (the rich guest house resident) see too much alike - they should be more differentiated like Jerry and Kramer were (like the Scarecrow and the Tin Man were...) Generally a decent start but too early to decide if it will be entertaining.

I agree. The weakest parts of the premier were the "Hey, this is LA, that's how we do things..." and " I was in the Valley.... (big laugh)." Hope it was just an establishing kind of thing...setting the scene, NYC fish out of water.
Speaking of water, how about an It's like, you know...drinking game? Every time you see a character with a bottle of H2O in his/her hand, you gotta take a drink. And whenever someone says "It's like, you know..." (at least once per episode, I understand), throw back shot. Kind of an update of the "Hi, Bob" game.

"Seinfeld moments"? It was more like copies of Seinfeld ideas to me. Actually, I pretty much liked it, but the obvious copies from Seinfeld ("Q", "We don't make America great") were the weakest part of the show. I'm also not sure yet whether the bald guy (George II) will have enough to keep him interesting.
Does anyone remember their reaction to the first time they saw what they now consider a truly great show? Seinfeld? WKRP in Cincinnati?

I was on an airplane when I first viewed an episode of Seinfeld. On my way to Las Vegas, instead of showing us a motion picture, the airline decided we should watch a series of different shows, one of them being an episode of Seinfeld. I recall the rather chubby guy sitting across from me and my aunts looking over at us and lifting his hands in the air, exclaiming "Yes, Seinfeld!!" The episode they showed us, to this day one of my favorite episodes, was "The Airport."

He seems a bit too 'dark' to be engaging. They will have to make him a bit more normal and likeable in some way before we can identify with him.
I remember 'flipping' by what looked like a low budget show with a few idiots talking in front of a bike hanging in a NYC apartment building - I had no interest in it. Then a few months later I caught the 'magic luggie' scene with Wayne Knight (I had just seen JFK on video) and thought 'what a creative show' - that was it - I was hooked.
